On Monday, William R. Yates of La Grange was arrested following an investigation by the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit. Officers with the North Carolina Probation and Parole Office assisted with the investigation. During a search of Yates’ residence, detectives reportedly located about nine grams of crystal methamphetamine as well as scales and packaging materials indicating the crystal meth was being distributed from the residence. Yates is charges with Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Crystal Methamphetamine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He is currently on probation, so additional probation violation charges are pending. Yates was given a secured bond of $10,000 and he was placed into the W.E. Billy Smith Detention Facility.
