(NORTH CAROLINA NEWS NETWORK) — Gov. Roy Cooper is urging state residents to be prepared for Tropical Storm Isaias.
It weakened to a tropical storm on Saturday, but the storm is gaining strength as it moves north.
Isaias is expected to impact South Carolina then move up the I-95 corridor.
The storm is likely is to move out of North Carolina after noon on Tuesday.
Governor Cooper said this time when being prepared for the storm include masks, face coverings and hand sanitizer in your hurricane preparedness kit.
If residents need to get to a shelter, the governor said the shelters will be screening for COVID-19 and will provide sheltering options to anyone who is exhibiting symptoms.
The National Hurricane Center forecasts 3 to 5 inches of rain in North Carolina, with isolated maximum totals of 7 inches.
Wind gusts of 30 to 60 mph are possible.
