Wayne County’s Jobless Rate Improves In June

Wayne County’s unemployment rate is on the decline following the statewide shutdown over the coronavirus pandemic.  According to the N.C. Department of Commerce, Wayne County’s seasonally unadjusted jobless rate sank to 7.0% in June.  That’s down from May’s rate of 10.2%.  Wayne County’s unemployment rate was recorded at 4.5% in March as the COVID-19 restrictions were about to take effect across the state.  Wayne County is currently ranked as having the 37th lowest jobless rate out of North Carolina’s 100 counties.
