Sunday morning, the Thoroughfare and Grantham fire departments as well as EMS Station 3 responded to a single vehicle accident on the 2000 block of Old Grantham Road. As fire and EMS personnel arrived, they found an older model Jeep near the woodline. The driver and his dog did not survive the crash. The jeep was apparently heading west toward Grantham when it veered off the right shoulder of the highway and struck a tree. The accident is being investigated by the State Highway Patrol. The Highway Patrol would not disclose the identify the driver at this time. That section of Old Grantham Road was closed to all traffic for about three hours.
