Lenoir County Public Schools To Begin School Year Virtually

Lenoir County Public Schools To Begin School Year Virtually

While Wayne County is doing a blend of in-person and virtual learning, a neighboring school district is going all virtual to begin the new school year.  This week, the Lenoir County Board of Education voted 4 – 3 in favor of starting the 2020-2021 school year under Plan “C.”  That means all Lenoir County Public Schools students will utilize remote learning for the first nine weeks of class. In the second nine weeks, students in pre-K through 2nd grade and designated cohorts of EC students will be able to return to school for in-person instruction provided Lenoir County meets certain public health metrics.  That includes a two week decline in COVID-19 cases and a positive testing rate of 5% or less for 14 days prior to the first day of in-person instruction.
