County Adds Second Non-Emergency Medical Transport Service

WayneNET is shutting down and a new company is being brought in to assist with Wayne County’s  non-emergency ambulance transport.

During a public hearing before the Wayne County Board of Commissioners last week, County Manager Craig Honeycutt said the county needs additional capacity once WayneNET is closed, and that’s why the county looked to add the services of MedEx Medical Transport.

North State Medical Transport already provides overnight non-medical transport services for the county

Honeycutt has said the goal is to have WayneNET shut down by September 1st.

Commissioner Wayne Aycock thanked the county staff for all the hard work they put into WayneNET.

Following the required second public hearing last week, the Wayne County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously and approved the proposed Franchise for North State Investment Group, LLC (doing business as North State Medical Transport) and MedEx Medical Transport Services, Inc., to furnish non-emergency medical transport and other medical transport as needed.
