UPDATE: Found Remains Identified As Human

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office says it’s received a preliminary report from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Raleigh after the remains were found yesterday in a wooded area in the 600 block of Falling Creek Church Road in Goldsboro. The remains have been identified as a male subject, approximately 30 years of age, with a full-length rod in the left femur. The age, per the medical examiner, is based on bone density and metal fillings in the teeth. The race of the individual has not been determined. The preliminary report has excluded the remains as those of Cole Thomas.  At this time, there is no further information to be released.  The remains were found Wednesday afternoon as a local logging crew was cutting timber.
