Evelyn Proctor Crawford, 91, went to her heavenly home in the morning of Wednesday, July 22, 2020, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Evelyn was born in Edgecombe County on November 20, 1928 to the late Jesse Frank Proctor and Susie Hurdle Proctor. She was married for 67 years to the late William Perry Crawford who preceded her in death on April 8, 2019. A graduate of Women’s College in Greensboro, North Carolina, she taught school in Nahunta and Pikeville. Evelyn was an active member of Nahunta Friends Meeting where she served on various committees, as well being a member of the Nahunta Grange and the Extension Homemakers Club.

Evelyn married Bill Crawford on December 22, 1951, and they were blessed with two daughters, the late Susan Crawford Caughron and Bonnie Crawford Capps. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She spent most her life as a devoted homemaker. She will be loved and missed forever by her family as well as all those who knew her.

Funeral services for Evelyn will be held, Saturday, July 25, at 9:30 am in Seymour Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow at Wayne Memorial Park.

Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Capps and husband Thomas Capps of Rougemont, granddaughter, Trina Capps, grandson, Anthony Capps and wife, Brianne Capps: son-in-law, Joe Caughron of Rosewood, NC; granddaughter, Robyne Caughron Herring and husband, Josh Herring of Calypso; grandson, Will Caughron; great-granddaughters Raegan Herring, Cali Capps; and great-grandson Cannon Herring.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Susan Caughron; sister, Posy Lynch; and brothers, Mitchell Proctor and Lester Proctor.
