Mary Lee Beverly Thompson, 79, died Friday morning at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. Born in Pitt County, she was the daughter of the late Joe and Rosa Lee Mozingo Beverly. Mary Lee worked for many years with Wachovia Bank in Kinston and was a retired supervisor with Sun Trust Bank. She enjoyed travel, cruising, playing golf, spending time with her Red Hat Group and was most proud of being a founding member of the Magnolia Point Golf and Country Club Women’s Club in Green Cove Springs, Florida. In her younger years, she thoroughly enjoyed shagging and the beach. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.
No formal services will be held at this time.
She is survived by her husband, Leonard W. Thompson, Sr. of LaGrange; her children, Felisa (Richard) Parker of Wendell, Gwen (Carroll) Wade of Kinston, Shelvia (Lee) Riggs of LaGrange, Leonard W. Thompson, Jr. of Raleigh, and Russell Byers Thompson of Greensboro; seven grandchildren, Harrison Todd Parker, Jordan Talbot Parker, Joshua Harrison Wade, Jessica Johnson, Cory Johnson, Leonard W. Thompson, III. (Weston) and Elizabeth Ann Thompson McDougal; and six great grandchildren and her sister in law, Rosemary Thompson Lambe and her husband, Bernie of LaGrange.
