After lunchtime Monday, the New Hope Fire Department was dispatched to the scene on Merlin Lane just off Mark Edwards Road. The firefighters found a member of a tree removal service was about half way up a tall pine tree and had gotten his hand pinned between two sections of the limb that he was cutting away. The ground operations immediately called for the assistance of the Belfast Fire Department and their ladder truck for the rescue operation. Dr. Kornegay arrived on the scene and climbed the tree to help free the man’s hand and safely lowered him to the ground with help from the firefighters. The climber was assisted to a nearby medical gurney where EMS personnel took him to the hospital for his hand injury.
