Saundra Linnell Moore Abel, went to be with her Lord on July 4, 2020, at home, peacefully.

Saundra was born in New York City on January 19, 1947 to the late McCoy and Devora Becton Moore. After high school she attended Fayetteville State University. Saundra began her career as a Civil Service human resources clerk and met William (Bill) Abel Jr. to whom she was married for forty years. After civil service retirement, Saundra brought her skills in human resources to Dillard Academy Charter School in Goldsboro NC, where she worked with her sister, Hilda. Upon her second retirement, she spent time with her loving husband, Bill, in New Bern until he died in 2017. She lived her final years in Goldsboro surrounded by family and friends. Above all, Saundra will be remembered by her family as the most loving wife, sister, step-mother, and aunt.

Details of a memorial service to celebrate Sandra’s life are pending and will be announced at a later date.

Saundra is survived by her brother, Dalton McCoy Moore and wife, Carolyn of Willingboro, NJ and sister, Hilda Grace Hicks and husband, Ruffin Branch of Goldsboro.

She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Natasha Devora Moore-Smith and husband, Sam of Burlington NJ, Dalton-Leigh Moore of Washington, DC, Danielle Hicks Baptiste and husband, William of Goldsboro NC, Valerie Branch Johnson and husband, Tracy of Goldsboro NC, Elbert Branch, Jr and Kim of Los Angeles, CA, and Jamar Branch of Triangle, VA; great-nieces and nephews Naiya Moore, Michael Sean Smith, Xavier Baptiste, Ashland Echols-Moore, Ayana Branch, Valkeya Jones, Tarek Johnson and Paige Jones; and a host of other family and friends.
