Amy Denning Fisher

July 4, 50,

Amy Elizabeth Denning Fisher, 50, completed her journey home on July 4, 2020 to the welcoming words, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”

Amy was born in Wayne County on February 12, 1970 to Facie Junior Denning and Pauline Howell Denning of Pikeville. She was a 1988 graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School, where she was a member of the Falconettes and a Falconaires. Amy was also a 1990 graduate of Wayne Community College. She had a great love for music that started early in life and was a member of the Charles B. Aycock High School Alumni Choir, the Wilmington Celebration Choir, and A Taste of Grace (a quartet and trio group). Amy had also served on the Roundup Committee for Tri-County Electric. Amy enjoyed singing, crafts, cooking, gardening, and loved the many opportunities given to her to mentor young people.

Amy was a lifetime member of Pleasant Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church in Pikeville. She was devoted to her church, served as a youth leader and teacher, choir leader, assistant treasurer, finance committee member, compassion committee member, and was involved in many other activities where she utilized her gifts and abilities to share the love of God. Amy was employed for 15 years at Pikeville Insurance Agency and Code 3 Insurance. She had previously worked with WalMart, Sandhill Gas and Supply, and Jeffries Mechanical.

Amy will be remembered for her unconditional love as a daughter, wife, mother, sister, and a friend to all. So too will she be remembered for her compassionate spirit and soul, and her gift of finding joy in doing random acts of kindness for others. Family was paramount to Amy, and she loved nothing more than her husband and her son. She was so looking forward to her son’s upcoming wedding and was so happy he had found his true love. Amy was the embodiment of love as we have been taught by our Savior, Jesus Christ.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 in the fellowship hall of Pleasant Grove O.F.W.B. Church followed by a service to celebrate Amy’s life at 7:30 p.m. in the sanctuary with Pastor Barry Stallings, Rev. Michael Lewis and Rev. Tabitha Pate officiating. Interment will be on Thursday, July 9, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in the Pikeville Cemetery.
