Sheriff: Permit Holders May Concealed Carry While Wearing Mask

In a Facebook post last week, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office says questions have arisen regarding the ability of persons with a valid concealed handgun permit to carry a concealed handgun while wearing a mask now required in public statewide.

With the passage of Senate Bill 704, a person is temporarily authorized to wear a mask in public to include a person with a valid concealed handgun permit.

The sheriff’s office says, bottom line, if you possess a valid concealed handgun permit; are wearing a mask in accordance with the General Statutes and the Governor’s Order (for the purpose of ensuring the physical health or safety for the wearer or others); and are obeying the law, you can carry your concealed handgun.
