Special Meetings To Address WCPS Financial Problems

A pair of meetings on Friday will look at the financial predicament of Wayne County Public Schools.

On Friday at 9 AM, the Wayne County Board of Education has called a special meeting to look at the district’s budget and finances.  Then at 1 PM Friday, the Wayne County Board of Commissioners is scheduled to meet to discuss and possibly approve local funding support for WCPS.  Both meetings will be streamed live.

Last week, the Wayne County Board of Education was informed of a nearly $5 million deficit in the district’s fund balance.  WCPS Superintendent Dr. Michael Dunsmore then resigned the day following that announcement.
