Ralph Linwood Williamson completed his journey home on Friday, May 29, 2020 to the welcoming words, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”

Ralph was born in Wayne County on February 4, 1942, to the late Roland Williamson and Annie Barwick Williamson Brown. He retired from Mid-Atlantic Marketing after over 30 years of service. Ralph proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. His valor and skill was recognized with numerous decorations, including a Purple Heart.

Ralph lived a life of dedication to his family and friends, and to his community. He served his community many ways as a young man with the North Carolina Jaycees in the Grantham Community and later as a 32nd degree Mason with the Mount Olive Masonic Lodge #208 A.F. & A.M. Ralph also served as the Past Master of the Mount Olive Lodge.

Ralph was a longtime member of Falling Creek Baptist Church in Grantham. He was devoted to his church, served as a deacon, and was involved in many activities where he utilized his abilities to share the love of God. He had a huge heart, always giving and reaching out to others, there wasn’t a stranger he hadn’t met. Ralph enjoyed being around people. Most will remember the joy that Ralph’s presence would bring.

A service to celebrate the life of Ralph will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary of Falling Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Ellis and Dr. Billy Webb officiating. Interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park where Masonic Rites will be rendered. The family will greet friends immediately following the service at the cemetery and other times at their home in Mount Olive.

Ralph is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ann Byrd Williamson; children, Cheryl W. Kornegay and husband, David, of Mount Olive and Bryan T. Williamson and Nicki of Maryville, MO; brother, Alton Williamson of Hampden, ME; and his grandchildren, Hunter Eaddy, Brooke Kornegay and Matthew Kornegay.

In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his step-father, Marsden H. Brown; brother, Robert E. Williamson, and granddaughter, Bailey E. Eaddy.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Ralph’s memory to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 403 E. Front Street, New Bern, NC 28560 or to Falling Creek Baptist Church, 498 Falling Creek Church Road, Goldsboro, NC 27530.
