Edith Baker Denning, 92, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family.

Edith was born on November 17, 1927 in Sampson County, NC to the late Clarence Baker and Vinnie Thornton Baker. She was married for 63 years to the late John W. Denning. She was a graduate of Newton Grove High School and a member of Pleasant Union Christian Church in Newton Grove.

A Graveside Service of Remembrance will be held at Wayne Memorial Park, Sunday, May 31, 2020 at 3:00 PM with Rev. Debora Stilley officiating. The family will receive friends at the residence and Sunday immediately following the service at the graveside.

Edith is survived by her daughters, Joy D. Pate and husband Walter and Patty D. Best and husband Waite, Jr.; her granddaughter, Paige Leigh Best and spouse, Shelby Brothers; her grandson, Shane Pate and wife Carla and her great grandsons, Dylan Pate and Dawson Pate. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Peggy Denning, Luna Tadlock and Alice Allen; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Edith was preceded in death by her sister, Corneva Wiggins and brother, Bobby Baker.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to WAGES Meals on Wheels, 601 Royall Avenue, Goldsboro, NC 27534.
