20 people have now passed away due to the coronavirus in Wayne County.

As of Wednesday’s update from Wayne County Government, there have been 1,047 total positive cases of COVID-19 in Wayne County.  469 of those cases came from the Neuse Correctional Institution and 69 cases were attributed to other congregate care living facilities.

There have now been 20 coronavirus-related deaths in Wayne County.  The two latest deaths occurred Saturday and Monday.  Both were persons in their mid-70s with underlying health conditions.  Neither victim came from a congregate living facility.

It’s estimated 672 persons infected with COVID-19 have already recovered, leaving an estimated 355 active cases in the county.
