As of Friday, May 22, the Wayne County Health Department has received notification of 947 total positive cases of COVID-19. 69 of these cases are attributed to congregate living facilities and 409 cases are from outside any type of congregate living areas. 647 of the 947 cases are estimated to have recovered from COVID-19. An estimated total of 282 cases are still active in Wayne County.
The health department received notice of three additional COVID-19 related deaths this week. The first individual passed away on May 18, 2020 and was in their early sixties with underlying medical conditions. The second individual passed away on May 19, 2020 and was in their early sixties with underlying medical conditions. The third individual passed away on May 20, 2020 and was in their mid thirties with underlying medical conditions. None of these deaths were attributed to a congregate care facility. The current total number of COVID-19 related deaths in Wayne County is 18.
