Johnnie Mae Jones, 96, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, May 16, 2020 while being cared for at UNC Lenoir Health Care in Kinston.

Her life was filled with humility, kindness and a love for others that she displayed every time she smiled. She dedicated her life to serving her family unselfishly and to serving her Lord. Johnnie Mae was always on call to give an encouraging word or helping hand. She enjoyed life especially the life she had with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family will gather at Seymour Funeral Home in the hour prior to the service. A graveside service celebrating Johnnie Mae’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 20, 2020 in Wayne Memorial Park with Rev. Bill Rose officiating.

Johnnie Mae is survived by her devoted daughter, Diane Oakley and husband James of LaGrange; son, Gary Jones of New Bern; eleven grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and eleven great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Fletcher Jones; mother, Fannie Mae Silverthorne Butler; children, Robert Donald Jones, Raymond Jones and JoAnn Perry; and granddaughter, Cindy Taylor
