Signs, sirens, car horns, and cheers greet staff at Wayne UNC Health Care as the community shows its support for the frontline heroes in the battle against COVID-19.  Police, firefighters, EMS, and everyday citizens lined up at Wayne Community College Friday morning before parading through the Wayne UNC campus in a show of love for workers at the local hospital.

Wayne UNC President and CEO Janie Jaberg says the mood inside the hospital is awesome and things like the Cheer Parade lift the staff’s spirits.  Jaberg says the hospital team remain dedicated to supporting their community.

Jeff Brogneaux, the Director of Clinical Support at Wayne UNC, says the support from the community during the COVID-19 crisis has been amazing.  He called Friday’s parade “astounding!”  Brogneaux says it’s been very quiet in the hospital due to the limitations on visitors, and hospital staff have been trying to fill in for those loved ones that can’t come in to see patients.

The Cheer Parade for Wayne UNC Health Care was put together by the United Way of Wayne County and One Church.
