County Reports 14th COVID-19 Death; Over 16,000 Cases In State

Wayne County is reporting its 14th COVID-19 death.  According to Wayne County Government, the individual passed away Tuesday, and was in their mid-50s with underlying health conditions.  This death did not appear to be associated with a congregate living facility in the county.  As of Thursday’s latest figures, there were 769 total positive COVID-19 cases in Wayne County.  469 of those cases were offenders at the Neuse Correctional Institution and 53 come from other congregate care facilities in the county.

As of Thursday, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services was reporting 16,507 laboratory-confirmed cases of coronavirus in the state. 615 of those cases have resulted in death.

In a Thursday media briefing, Gov. Roy Cooper announced a statewide list of COVID-19 testing sites is available online at the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services website.
