Mount Olive Parades Will Honor Graduates

This is always a special time of year for students that are completing their high school careers. However, communities have had to get creative in how they honor this year’s batch of high school graduates due to the COVID-19 crisis.

During an interview with Jeff Farrow on Goldsboro’s Greatest Hits 1150 and 98.3, Mount Olive Chamber of Commerce President Julie Beck talked about the town’s parades that will ensure seniors get to celebrate the milestone.

Beck also noted Mount Olive residents have been pulling together during the coronavirus pandemic.

Today, Tuesday, May 12, Southern Wayne High School seniors will participate in the parade.

On Tuesday, May 19, Spring Creek High School, North Duplin and Mount Olive residents who are seniors at Wayne Early Middle, Wayne School of Engineering, Wayne Country Day, Faith Christian, and Wayne Christian are invited to participate in the second parade.

The parade participants are asked to not put more than four seniors in each vehicle.

Spectators are encouraged to watch and cheer as the parades head through downtown Mount Olive.

The parade line up will be at Carver Elementary School (400 Old Seven Springs Road, Mount Olive) from 5:00-5:45 p.m. with the parade commencing at 5:45 p.m. on both nights.
