Join United Way of Wayne County and One Church for a community-wide Cheer Parade this Friday, May 15, celebrating Hospital Week and the team at Wayne UNC Healthcare. “It is hospital week and our hospital is a cornerstone of our community. We wanted to give our community a way to come out and say, “thank you” while maintaining social distancing. One Church came up with the idea of a cheer line and we are supporting their efforts.”, said Sherry Archibald, Executive Director at United Way of Wayne County.
Those wishing to join the parade should meet in the parking lot in front of Wayne Learning Center at Wayne Community College at 6:30 A.M. The parade, with police escort, will leave the parking lot at 6:45 and head to the designated route around Wayne UNC Healthcare. We hope to brighten the day of the staff as they leave one shift and enter for the next.
All parade members should stay in their cars and no one should congregate to watch the parade.
Please feel free to decorate your vehicle, honk your horns, play music, cheer, sing, wear costumes and wave signs. Once we are at the hospital, the parade will move slowly to greet incoming hospital employees.
