A group of people were waiting in the parking lot of the First United Methodist Church in Mount Olive for a truckload of sweet potatoes to be delivered Tuesday afternoon. The church received 44,000 pounds of sweet potatoes from a farmer in Chadbourn, NC. The tractor-trailer arrived around 1:30 PM and unloaded the sweet potatoes. Volunteers were on hand and started to put the potatoes in net bags. The church was giving away the potatoes to other area churches to help feed people in need. Vehicles were lined up all the way around the Mount Olive Police Department waiting to get some of the potatoes.
