Scholarships Available for Students Going into Engineering

A new scholarship is available for students planning to study engineering at Wayne Community College and East Carolina University.

The PIRATES (Providing Inclusive Residential and Transfer Experience Scholarships) in engineering program gives potential Associate in Engineering students the opportunity to receive up to $3,000 per year at WCC. If they transfer to ECU’s College of Engineering and Technology, their scholarships could continue at up to $10,000 per year for two more years.

The application period for the WCC-PIRATES Scholarship is now through July 1 for students studying at WCC in fall 2020. The application can be found at www.waynecc.edu/programs/engineering/.

The scholarships are provided by ECU through a grant from the National Science Foundation Scholarships in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Program.

For more information about the scholarship or WCC’s Associate in Engineering program, contact Dean of Arts and Sciences Brandon Jenkins at [email protected].
