Election Results: State Races Impacting Wayne County

Incumbent state legislators appear on the road to reelection following Tuesday’s results:

  • In the North Carolina State Senate District 7 race, Republican Jim Perry defeated Democratic challenger Donna Lake.
  • In the State House, incumbent District 10 Rep. John Bell of Wayne County handily defeated Democrat Carl Martin.
  • The District 21 State House race has incumbent Democrat Rep. Raymond E. Smith, Jr. with a nearly 2,000 vote lead over Republican challenger Brent Heath.
  • Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper has already been declared the winner of the state’s Gubernatorial contest.  Cooper defeated Dan Forest to win reelection.

Keep in mind, these results are preliminary and still need to be certified.

Also, absentee by-mail ballots are being accepted in North Carolina until November 12th provided they were postmarked by November 3rd.
