Come out and Join!

On Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at 6:00 PM, Dillard Academy Charter School will roll out the red carpet for our 5th-grade student authors as we celebrate the official launch of their published book, Cell-ebrate Science: Wonders of the Human Body. This original, student-written and illustrated book is the result of months of research, creativity, and collaboration rooted in North Carolina’s 5th-grade science standards.

These students—many from under-resourced backgrounds—have accomplished something extraordinary. Their work is not only academically aligned, but emotionally inspiring. The event will feature:

• Red Carpet Entrance & Book Signing
• Special Presentations by the Mayor, Wayne County Public Library, and Kramden Institute (who will gift each student with a computer)
• Student Legacy Gift Presentation of $1,000+ to the school
• Honor to Community Supporters including Wendy’s, Texas Roadhouse, Pizza Hut, and UEC Premier Theater
