GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Wayne County Public Schools will dismiss students two hours early on Monday, December 8, due to the threat of inclement weather expected to arrive late tomorrow afternoon and into the evening.
All after-school programs, extracurricular activities, athletic practices, and school-sponsored events have also been canceled.
District officials say the decision was made out of an abundance of caution.
“Student and staff safety is our top priority,” the district stated. “These actions will help ensure our campuses are cleared and all school buses are safely off the road before any potential icy conditions occur.”
Families are encouraged to stay informed as the forecast continues to develop. Updates will be shared through local media outlets, the district website, and official social media channels @WayneCountyPS on Facebook and X (formerly Twitter).
