WAYNE COUNTY, N.C. — The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Goldsboro man following an investigation into multiple incidents involving fiber optic and telephone lines being cut and stolen in the southern portion of the county.
Deputies say the investigation began after several reports of damaged and removed utility lines, prompting concerns over service interruptions and public safety. Through the course of the investigation, Mark Anthony Levi, 39, of Comet Drive in Goldsboro, was identified as a suspect.
Levi was taken into custody and booked into the Wayne County Detention Center on the following charges:
- Felony Larceny (2 counts)
- Attempted Felony Larceny (2 counts)
- Felony Injuring Utility Wires/Fixtures (4 counts)
The Sheriff’s Office says the investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be forthcoming as detectives continue to review evidence from the affected locations.
