Carolyn Ellis Thompson, 92, passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro. She was born in Wayne County, North Carolina, on July 1, 1933, to the late Herman Ellis and Ruby Rose Ellis.
In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Thompson; son, Jimmy Thompson, Jr.; brothers, Herman Ellis, Harold Ellis, and George Ellis; sisters, Dorothy Perkins, Ruth Best, Sarah Avery, and Rose Kornegay; and grandson, Charles William Aycock.
She is survived by her daughters, Nanette Aycock (Phillip) and Judy Smith (Elton); grandsons, Zachary Smith, Phil Aycock (Veronica), and Ryan Aycock (Amanda); granddaughters, Nancy Corbett (Mark) and Vanessa Thompson; great-grandsons, Wyatt Aycock, Wade Aycock, and D.J. Terrell; and great-granddaughter, Gwyneth Terrell. Carolyn is also survived by her sister, Cleone Ellis, and sister-in-law, Martha Ann Ellis.
A retired nurse, Carolyn donated her body to the Brody School of Medicine. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
