Nina Stroud Rouse, 83, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, October 30, 2025, while surrounded by her loving family at the Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.

Nina was born and raised in Wayne County, where she built a life grounded in faith, family, and community. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband of 62 years, L.H. Rouse, with whom she shared a lifetime of love, hard work, and devotion.

Nina is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Deborah Rouse of Seven Springs; grandchildren, Bryant Rouse, and Ben Rouse and wife Casey; and great-grandchildren, Spenser Kate Rouse, Evie Rouse, Ridge Rouse, Cannon Rouse, and Leah Rouse, who brought her endless joy. She is also survived by many extended family members, cousins, and friends whom she loved dearly.

A woman of steadfast faith, Nina was a devoted member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church in Goldsboro for over 60 years. She was faithful in attendance, generous in service, and always eager to lend a helping hand.

Nina graduated from Seven Springs High School and later from Crumpler’s Business College. She began her career with Dewey Brothers and later worked with the Wayne County Tax Office in Goldsboro, where her kindness and professionalism earned her the respect of many. Together with her husband, she also owned and operated Rouse’s Minute Mart in the Seven Springs community, where she found great joy in greeting friends and neighbors with her warm smile and kind heart.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 3, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with Pastor Christian Powell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to her caregivers, Pam and Donna, for their devoted care and friendship, and to the staff of Kitty Askins Hospice Center for their exceptional love and compassion during Nina’s final days.

Flowers are welcome, or memorials may be made in her memory to Faith Free Will Baptist Church or Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Nina’s gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and love for others will remain a cherished memory and a lasting legacy to all who knew her.
