City Council Approves Temporary Pause on Water Cutoffs During Federal Shutdown

GOLDSBORO, NC – The City Council has approved a temporary pause on water cutoffs for customers affected during the ongoing federal government shutdown.

Under the approved measure, no water service disconnections or late fees will occur during the shutdown and for 14 days afterward.

Following that period, customers will be required to bring their accounts current or may request a no-interest payment plan for up to three months to catch up on any outstanding balances.

City officials say the decision aims to provide relief and stability for residents who may be facing financial uncertainty as the shutdown continues.
