Man Arrested for Breaking Into Pikeville Home, Stealing Cash from Safe

PIKEVILLE, N.C. — A man has been arrested and charged with breaking into a Pikeville residence and stealing a large sum of money from a safe earlier this month, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.

Cameron Tucker Barbour was taken into custody and charged with safecracking, breaking and entering, and larceny after breaking and entering. He is being held on a $30,000 secured bond.

The incident occurred on October 10, 2025, when deputies responded to a residence in Pikeville after receiving a report of a breaking and entering. The victim told authorities that someone had broken into her home and forced open her safe, stealing a substantial amount of U.S. currency.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit launched an investigation into the case, with Detective Sergeant D. Gregory serving as the lead investigator. During the course of the investigation, Barbour was identified as a suspect.

Investigators determined that Barbour and the victim were acquainted with one another prior to the incident.

Barbour was apprehended without incident and formally charged. The investigation remains ongoing.
