GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Two Goldsboro residents are facing multiple charges after a shooting incident on East Spruce Street that prompted a swift police response Thursday afternoon.
The Goldsboro Police Department responded to a ShotSpotter alert at approximately 3:42 p.m. on October 16, 2025. Officers quickly located two individuals involved in the shooting incident at the scene.
Carl Johnson, 50, and Angelene Cobb, 36, both of Goldsboro, were arrested in connection with the incident. The department’s Investigations Division and Crime Scene Unit responded to process multiple crime scenes related to the shooting.
Cobb was arrested at the scene and transported directly to the Wayne County Jail. Johnson sustained injuries during the incident and was initially taken to UNC Health Wayne before being transferred to ECU Health for treatment. He was released from the hospital on October 17 and subsequently arrested and transported to the Wayne County Jail.
Johnson faces several serious charges including discharge of a weapon into occupied property, attempted assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, possession of a firearm by a felon, and discharge of a firearm within city limits. He is being held without bond.
Cobb has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and is being held on a $25,000 bond.
