Families Invited to Explore Traditional Crafts at Hands and Hearth Program Series

FREMONT, N.C. — The Wayne County Public Library is launching “Hands and Hearth,” a new hands-on program series designed to introduce families to traditional skills and timeless crafts from earlier generations.

The program will take place at the Charles B. Aycock Birthplace, located at 264 Governor Aycock Road NE in Fremont. The inaugural session is scheduled for Friday, October 11, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.

Hands and Hearth aims to provide families with unique opportunities to learn heritage crafts while connecting with history through interactive experiences. The series will feature a rotating selection of traditional skills, including candle making, blacksmithing, pottery, and food preservation techniques.

Each session offers a unique chance to learn, create, and connect with the past together.

The family-friendly program is open to participants of all ages and skill levels. The historic setting of the Charles B. Aycock Birthplace provides an authentic backdrop for exploring these time-honored crafts and trades.
