October 4, 2025, 91, Goldsboro —
In the early hours of Saturday morning, October 4, 2025, Janet Bell Dixon went to be with her Lord. Death called her while she was being cared for at Wake Medical Center at its Raleigh campus.
Mrs. Dixon, 91, was a native of the Beautancus area of Duplin County, near Mount Olive. After having studied at Hardbarger’s Business School, she was employed with Duplin County Register of Deeds office, followed by secretarial work with the department of education for the state of North Carolina. The rest of her days were those of being a loving wife, a wonderful mother and sister, and an immaculate homemaker whose main goal was the happiness and security of her family.
Mrs. Dixon is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Gail Dixon, of the home at Garner; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She has been reunited with her beloved husband, Emerson Ray Dixon; her parents, Willie James Bell and Corabelle McArthur Bell; and her brother and sister-in-law, Willie Donnell Bell and Edna Eatmon “Kit” Bell.
Visitation will be at Tyndall Funeral Home Tuesday, October 7, from 6 until 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 8, at 1 p.m. at Bear Marsh Missionary Baptist Church, and will be officiated by the Rev. Paul Rose. Burial will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Dixon were childhood members of the Bear Marsh Church. Upon their relocating to the Raleigh area, they became members of First Baptist Church of Garner, and in recent months, it was on Mrs. Dixon’s heart to transfer her membership back to the roots of her beginning, Bear Marsh.
