Johnnie Lee King Bowden, 91, formerly of Dudley, entered her eternal rest on Friday, September 26, 2025, in Ruskin, Florida, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and generosity.
Born January 22, 1934, in Wayne County to the late James Kent Pigford and Virginia King Pigford, Johnnie lived a life devoted to God, family, and community where in her childhood she faithfully worshipped at Northeast Chapel Original FWB Church in Mt. Olive and later became a cherished member of St. Mark Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ in Goldsboro.
Mrs. Bowden’s heart extended beyond her church and family. She had a deep love for cooking, delighting in preparing meals for family, friends, and neighbors. She was always ready to help others, offering comfort, encouragement, or a kind word to those in need. Her compassion extended to animals as well, and she cherished every pet that shared her home, treating them as part of the family.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Mildred Lynnette Bernard, and her parents.
Johnnie’s family takes comfort in knowing she now rests in the presence of her Savior, her life a shining example of faith, love, and service. Her kindness, laughter, and generous spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
