Judy Turner Grimes, 77, long-time resident of the Suttontown area, passed away in the early evening on Saturday, September 27, 2025.
Judy was born and raised in Calypso. Married to Earl Grimes, she became a farmer’s wife, was a long-time volunteer with Suttontown Rescue, had been a hairstylist for all of her adult life, and had operated the beauty shop at Mount Olive Retirement Village and at Warsaw Glen-Care. Judy had also been a dispatcher with Sampson County 911 Emergency Services, and had served as a secretary in the emergency department at Sampson Regional Medical Center.
Judy leaves behind her daughter and son-in-law, Bridgette Grimes Bass and Kenny Bass, of Mount Olive; a son and daughter-in-law, Anthony Earl Grimes and Kimberly Grimes of Mount Olive; a brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Brenda Turner of Rocky Mount; beloved grandchildren, Rebecca Bass Quinn and husband, Cole, Emily Bass Watson and husband, Chris, Matthew Braxton Bass, Grayson Grimes, Alexis Grimes, and Caitlyn Grimes; a great-grandson, Declan Watson; and several nieces and nephews.
In death, she reunited with loved ones gone on before, to include her husband, Earl Dwight Grimes; her parents, J. R. Turner and Louise Faircloth Turner; a brother, Jimmy R. Turner, Jr., ; and a sister, Teresa Turner.
The life of Judy Grimes will be remembered at a graveside service to be held Wednesday, October 1, at 2 p.m. in the Grimes Family Cemetery.
