State Agency Invites Feedback on Federal Funding Distribution for Fiscal Year 2025-2026
RALEIGH, N.C. — The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services is requesting public input on its proposed Social Services Block Grant Plan, which details the allocation of $76 million in federal funding for the upcoming state fiscal year.
Funding Priorities
The Social Services Block Grant represents a critical source of federal funding for numerous essential programs across North Carolina. The funds will support a wide range of services, including:
- Adoption and foster care programs
- Protective services for adults
- Adult day care facilities
- Counseling and mental health services
- Housing assistance
- Residential treatment programs
Additional funding may be directed toward childcare services for families involved in child welfare cases, community-based programs for elderly residents and individuals with disabilities, transportation services, and other human services initiatives.

Public Hearing Details
