Early Tuesday morning, September 16, 2025, Nancy Mayo West passed away at Wellington Park Place in Kenansville.
Nancy, age 62, was born in Goldsboro on November 27, 1962 to parents, Jim and Ann Mayo. She was raised in Mount Olive and had been resided at Dudley until recently. Nancy was a graduate from Mount Olive College with an associate degree. She had been employed at Southern Bank and Trust Company, and also with her family’s business, WDJS Radio in Mount Olive as an advertising agent. Nancy had attended Emmaus Baptist Church.
Nancy leaves behind two step-daughters, Stephanie West and Ashley West, both of Dudley; five of her siblings, Steve Southerland and his wife, Rita, of Bracy, Va., Theresa Southerland Daves of Ellenwood, Ga., James H. “Jimmy” Mayo, Jr. of Mount Olive, Ann Marie Mayo Gregory and her husband, Carroll, of Goldsboro, and Joyce Mayo of Mount Olive; her nieces and nephews, Barbara Jean Anderson, Robbie Gregory, Jennifer Gregory, Mark Daves, Tabitha Southerland, Stevie Southerland, Mollie Beavers, and James Beavers, along with their families.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David West; her parents, James Harold “Jim” Mayo and Ann Marie Weldon Mayo; and a brother, William Dewey Mayo.
On Wednesday, September 24, the Mayo family will have visitation at 1 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home, with funeral services to follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, with burial to be in Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive. Officiating will be Pastor Jim Willoughby.
