All Nine Wayne County High Schools Earn Prestigious Cognia Accreditation

WAYNE COUNTY, N.C. — Wayne County Schools achieved a significant milestone as all nine of its high schools successfully earned Cognia Accreditation, the district announced at a recent Board of Education meeting.

The five-year accreditation represents a comprehensive evaluation process that confirms each high school meets or exceeds rigorous standards of educational quality and effectiveness. Kevin Smith, Director of Secondary Education, Career and Technical Education (CTE) & Athletics, presented the achievement to the Board, emphasizing the demanding nature of the accreditation process.

Cognia Accreditation is widely recognized as a mark of educational excellence, requiring schools to demonstrate their commitment to continuous improvement and student success through extensive documentation, evaluation, and review processes.

Following Smith’s presentation, the Board formally recognized each of the nine high schools for their achievement, highlighting the district-wide commitment to educational excellence.

The accreditation achievement positions Wayne County Schools among districts that prioritize maintaining high educational standards and demonstrates the collective effort of administrators, teachers, and staff across all high school campuses.
