John Davidson Wolfe, 97, passed away on September 14, 2025. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on February 6, 1928 to the late Maurice Warner Wolfe and Carrie Vivian White Wolfe. John served in the U. S. Navy and trained to be a pilot at the U.S. Naval Station in Pensacola, Florida. Following his navy service, he attended Michigan State University. He retired from Kingsbury Machine Tool Corporation in Keene, New Hampshire in 1990 and moved to North Carolina in 1992.
John is survived by his wife Katherine Wolfe, his daughters Janice L. Williams of Ohio, Karin White and husband Ted of Islamorada, Florida and Elk Rapids, Michigan, and Suzanne Dawson and her husband Bill of Bellaire, Michigan and three step-children, Calvin Wood and wife Tracy of Athens, Ohio, Preston Wood of Kill Devil Hills, NC, Marsha Lane of Angier, NC, six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife Betty L. Wolfe and his brother William Wolfe, a U. S. Navy veteran who served on active duty in the Pacific in World War II.
John was a mason and a member of the Grand Lodge of Michigan where he served as grand master for two years. In Goldsboro, he was a member of Golden K Kiwanis for a number of years and enjoyed volunteer work in the Wayne County Public Schools. He was an avid golfer and loved traveling.
The family is thankful for the dedicated service and care provided by 3HC, VA, and the private caregivers who cared for him. Their presence and compassion is greatly appreciated.
A memorial service will take place at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 200 N. James Street, Goldsboro, NC, on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 3:00 pm. The family will receive friends following the service. Burial will take place in Novi, Michigan at a later date.
