Coleen Davis Best, life-long Mount Olive resident, passed away quietly at home late Wednesday afternoon, September 10, 2025.  She was 92.

Mrs. Best had been employed with Mt. Olive Pickle Company in her earlier years, and then with the Boling Company, all the while being a homemaker, a loving wife, and a wonderful mother.  

A graveside service at which to remember her life will be Saturday, September 13, at 11:00 a.m. in Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive.  Officiating will be the Reverend Roy Hilburn.  The family will greet friends and relatives at the cemetery after the service, and at her residence at other times.

Mrs. Best leaves behind two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen B. and Wayne Hobbs of Clinton, and Barbara B. and Glenn Barfield of Mount Olive; grandchildren, Cullen Wayne Hobbs and fiance, Dorothy Lane, both of Clinton, and Amber Barfield Issa  with Ken Warner of Raleigh; great-grandchildren, Sami and Jennah Issa, and Brenn, Orion, and Joel Warner, all of Raleigh; and sisters, Ann D. Naylor of Clinton, and Teressa D. DePersis of Elm City.  Also surviving are several nieces and nephews whom she loved very much.  Among them, nephew, Mike Davis and his partner, Terri Padgett, are acknowledged for their steadfast commitment to checking in on her most every day and for providing meals and other necessities when she could no longer do those things.

Loved ones who she has joined on the other side include her husband, Chester D. Best; her parents, Pervy C. and Metta Morgan Davis; and several of her siblings.
