Randy Hinson

August 26, 2025, 66, Goldsboro —

Randy Scott Hinson, 66, passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at his home. Randy was born in Wayne County to the late Lester and Hazel Best Hinson on February 17, 1959. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gene Hinson, and a special aunt, Sadie Moye.

A man of many talents, Randy spent most of his life working as a general contractor. A talented builder, he took great pride in his craft and had a gift for turning ideas into reality. When Randy decided on doing something, there was very little he couldn’t accomplish. His skillset was large and his mind was sharp.

Holding a deep love for music, Randy enjoyed all genres with a special fondness for classic rock. A car enthusiast at heart, Randy was especially proud of his Monte Carlo. His easygoing, care-free spirit and big heart made him an instant friend to many. Never one to meet a stranger, he was always easy to talk to and could make people feel welcome and at ease.

The beach held a special place in Randy’s heart. He loved standing in the waves and often dreamed of moving to the coast one day. In his earlier years, he enjoyed duck hunting and fishing in local ponds, always finding peace and contentment in the outdoors.

For Randy, farming was a lifelong calling. He started farming alongside his father and brothers and continued the tradition throughout his life. He spent many seasons picking corn for other local farmers. Maintaining a vegetable garden each year, he loved to share the bounty of his harvest with friends and family.

A memorial service to honor Randy’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at Garris Chapel Church, the church where Randy held lifelong membership. The family will receive friends following the service.

Randy is survived by his brothers, Phil Hinson and wife, Vickie, of La Grange, and Donnie Hinson and wife, Barbara, of Atlantic Beach; a special granddaughter and grandson, Hayden Rose Williams and Forrest Williams; niece, Kim Fordham; his special friend, Cheryl Rouse; along with many nieces, nephews, and close friends who will cherish his memory.
