Woman Arrested for Allegedly Stealing $40,000 from Elderly Victim

WAYNE COUNTY, N.C.A 37-year-old woman faces multiple felony charges after authorities say she exploited an elderly victim out of approximately $40,000 over several months.

Crystal Marie Anderson was arrested by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office following an investigation that began on May 5, 2025, when deputies received a report of elderly exploitation involving thousands of dollars stolen from an elderly victim.

According to the sheriff’s office, the investigation revealed that Anderson allegedly took approximately $40,000 from the victim through multiple transactions conducted over several months.

Anderson has been charged with exploitation of an older adult or disabled adult, a felony, as well as 197 counts of obtaining property by false pretenses, also felonies. She is being held on a $130,000 secured bond.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office conducted a thorough investigation into the case before making the arrest.
