GOLDSBORO, N.C. – Wayne Community College’s Dental Assisting program has reached a significant milestone, with its entire 2025 graduating class achieving a 100% pass rate on the Dental Assisting National Board exam.
All 18 students who completed the program in July successfully passed the certification exam on their first attempt, demonstrating exceptional preparation and dedication to their studies. The comprehensive examination tests candidates on critical areas including radiation health and safety, infection control protocols, and general chairside assisting procedures.
“I am so proud of our Dental Assisting students for their hard work, dedication, and skill that resulted in a 100% pass rate,” said Janeil Marak, WCC’s Dean of Allied Health and Public Services. “Their commitment to dental health and academic excellence is shown through this achievement, and these students are now prepared to serve their communities as Certified Dental Assistants.”
The outstanding performance by the Dental Assisting cohort continues a streak of excellence within WCC’s Allied Health division this year. Both the 2025 Associate Degree Nursing and Dental Hygiene programs also recorded perfect pass rates on their respective licensure examinations, highlighting the quality of instruction and student preparation across multiple healthcare programs.
WCC’s Dental Assisting program offers a diploma track designed to prepare students to work alongside dentists in providing comprehensive treatment services to patients. The program emphasizes hands-on training and theoretical knowledge essential for modern dental practices.
The newly certified dental assistants are now qualified to begin careers in dental offices, clinics, and other oral healthcare settings throughout North Carolina and beyond.
