Joyce York Casey

 August 23, 2025, 92, Goldsboro —

Joyce York Casey, 92, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family.

Joyce was born in Wayne County on February 25, 1933, one of seven children of the late Herbert and Alma York. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Clarence “Doodle” Casey, and her son-in-law, Bobby Henson.

Joyce was a woman whose heart overflowed with love—for her family, for her church, and for her Savior. She was a member of Emmaus Baptist Church and her love for the Lord shone brightly through her kindness and devotion.

She worked for many years at Proffitt’s in Goldsboro, where her love for shopping and her warm personality made her a natural as a sales associate. Yet, her true joy in life was found not in work or hobbies, but in the time she shared with her family. Joyce cherished every moment with her daughters, and nothing brought her greater delight than being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were the light of her life and her greatest blessing.

Left to treasure her memory are her daughters, Susan York and husband, Victor; Elaine Henson; Sherry Finlay and husband, Donnie; and Pam Anderson and husband, Clark. Joyce’s legacy of love continues through her grandchildren, Tracey Crist and husband, Greg; Gene Casey and wife, Melissa; PK Wise and husband, Traye; Laura Beth Finlay; Jonathan York and wife, Lyndsey; Zachary Anderson and wife, Heather; Jessie Cobb and husband, Clay; Elijah Anderson and wife, Becca; Hannah Hunter and husband, Tyler; and Colleen Smith and husband, Ed. She was also blessed with twenty-six great-grandchildren who will forever carry the warmth of her love in their hearts.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 28, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Emmaus Baptist Church, followed by a service celebrating Joyce’s life at 12:00 noon in the sanctuary with Pastor Jim Willoughby officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to Legacy Baptist Church, 122 NE Church Road, Mount Olive, NC 28365, or to the American Cancer Society, RFL of Wayne County, #AB8RNU, P.O. Box 11796, Charlotte, NC 28220.

Services are entrusted to Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
