Wayne Community College Celebrates Allied Health Program Graduates at Summer Pinning Ceremony

GOLDSBORO, N.C. – Wayne Community College recognized 38 graduates from its Allied Health programs during a summer pinning ceremony hosted by the college’s Workforce Continuing Education Services department.

Programs Honor Nurse Aide and Phlebotomy Graduates

The ceremony celebrated students who completed Nurse Aide I and Phlebotomy programs, with graduates receiving both pins and certificates to mark their successful program completion. The traditional pinning represents a significant milestone in healthcare education.

“It is a symbol of the completion of your education and your entry into a healthcare profession,” WCC President Patty Pfeiffer told the graduates. “The world needs compassionate, skilled healthcare providers more than ever, and you have earned a place among them.”

Top Academic Performers Receive Special Recognition

Four graduates earned special honors for achieving the highest grade point averages in their respective programs:

Nurse Aide I Program:

  • Katherine Solis-Diaz (Mount Olive)
  • Chevelle Busby (Goldsboro)
  • Kaylee Brock (Goldsboro)

Phlebotomy Program:

  • Janet Wooley (Seven Springs)

Leadership Emphasizes Student Achievement

Renita Dawson, WCC Vice President of Workforce Continuing Education Services and Community Engagement, praised the graduates’ dedication during the ceremony.

“Today we celebrate not only the skills you’ve gained but the dedication, perseverance, and compassion you have shown along the way,” Dawson said. “You have earned the right to wear your pins with pride, and you will always be a part of the Bison family.”

Career Pathways and Certification Opportunities

Nurse Aide I graduates are now eligible to take the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program exam, which is required for certification and placement on the North Carolina Nurse Aide I Registry. Phlebotomy program graduates are prepared to sit for the National Phlebotomy Certification Examination.
