Eddie Ray Edmundson

August 1, 2025, 70, Goldsboro —

Eddie Ray Edmundson, 70, passed away peacefully at home early Friday morning, August 1, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on October 21, 1954, in Wayne County, Eddie was the son of the late Wilbert C. “Buck” Edmundson and Helen Perkins Edmundson. A man of boundless energy, and a heart full of love for God, family, and nature, Eddie lived a life that left a lasting mark on everyone who knew him. With a personality as big as his heart, Eddie never met a stranger. His infectious laugh is unforgettable, and his joy was contagious. Whether it was a casual gathering or a ride in his truck with the music turned up, Eddie brought warmth, humor, and life to every moment.

Eddie grew up with ambitious parents who taught him the value of hard work. He worked in the Tobacco Business for more than 25 years, serving as an auctioneer at Big Dixie Warehouse and finished his tobacco career at Big Star Warehouse of Wilson. His remarkable voice and quick wit made him a favorite at auctions and benefit events, particularly church auctions where he gladly lent his talents to support the community. Later, Eddie worked alongside his mother managing Edmundson Enterprises and following her passing in 2021, he continued overseeing their real estate ventures, including their properties in Goldsboro and Atlantic Beach.

Eddie was a true outdoorsman, while sitting in his deer stands he found peace and purpose in nature. Eddie had a bleeding heart for animals and enjoyed feeding and watching his birds, he showed his love by nurturing many different types of wildlife. Eddie’s connection with God’s creation was profound. Hunting was a lifelong passion—one he approached with patience, respect, and a deep appreciation for the stillness of the forest.

Eddie was a lover of sports in all seasons of his life. Whether it was playing, coaching, watching or being the biggest supporter at the event, you always knew he was there. He took immense pride in watching his son Buck grow into a coach himself. Eddie’s guidance, encouragement, and love of the game made a lasting impact on many young athletes over the years.

He was a gifted writer. Over the years, on holidays and special occasions his family received priceless, meaningful poems that they will forever cherish. He had a way with words and was definitely his mother’s son.

But above all else, Eddie was a family man and a Pal. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, a proud Granddaddy and Pop Pop. His wife, children, and grandchildren were his greatest treasures.

Eddie is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Parker Vinson Edmundson; son, Buck Edmundson and Kellen; daughter, Rae Ann Malpass and Taylor; and his adored grandchildren, Buxon, Kanon, Genevieve, and John Reynolds. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Anna Laura Casey; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, James and Lillian Vinson; niece, Lauren Vinson; nephew, Will Vinson and Lauren and extended family who he loved dearly. Eddie also shared a special bond with his faithful pets, Scotch and Moo Moo, who brought him comfort and companionship through the years.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at St. Luke Methodist Church, followed by a service to celebrate Eddie’s life at 2:00 p.m. in the sanctuary with Rev. Charles K. Moseley and Rev. Karl Grant officiating. A private interment for the family will follow at the Edmundson Family Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Eddie’s memory to St. Luke Methodist Church, 1608 E. Pine Street, Goldsboro, NC 27534, or to the Wayne County Animal Shelter, 1600 Clingman Street, Goldsboro, NC 27530.
