Wayne Community College President Receives Two-Year Contract Extension

GOLDSBORO, N.C. – Wayne Community College President Dr. Patty Pfeiffer has received approval for a two-year contract extension, ensuring her continued leadership of the institution through 2028.

The Wayne Community College Board of Trustees voted to extend Pfeiffer’s contract during their regular meeting in May, a decision that has since received approval from the North Carolina State Board of Community Colleges. The extension will take effect in January 2026.

Strong Vote of Confidence from Leadership

“Dr. Pfeiffer is and has been a vital part of Wayne Community College,” said WCC Board Chair Ven Faulk. “Her contract extension by our Board of Trustees is testimony to our faith in her leadership for a very bright future.”

The contract extension represents a significant vote of confidence in Pfeiffer’s leadership and vision for the college’s continued growth and success.

Three Decades of Service to WCC

Pfeiffer’s connection to Wayne Community College spans three decades, beginning in 1994 when she joined the institution as a nursing instructor. Throughout her tenure, she has served in multiple roles across the college, demonstrating her deep understanding of the institution’s operations and mission.

Her path to the presidency began in June 2021 when she was appointed interim president, before officially assuming the role of president in January 2022.

Commitment to Mission and Community

In response to the contract extension, Pfeiffer expressed her gratitude and renewed commitment to the college’s mission.

“I am honored and grateful for the opportunity to continue serving as president of Wayne Community College,” Pfeiffer said. “I am committed to our mission, supporting our students, working alongside our dedicated faculty and staff, and partnering with our community to drive meaningful change.”

She also acknowledged the Board of Trustees’ continued support, stating, “I want to thank the Board of Trustees for their continued trust, and I look forward to what we will accomplish together in the years ahead.”

Looking Forward

With her contract now secured through 2028, Pfeiffer will continue to lead Wayne Community College’s efforts to serve students and the broader Goldsboro community. The extension provides stability and continuity for the institution as it continues to adapt to the evolving needs of higher education and workforce development in North Carolina.
